With the onset of the marriage season, celebration activities have suddenly increased at the community centre of Sector 61 which is located in the neighbour-hood of many high rise apartments. High decibel music is played in these functions which continues till late night and sometimes even beyond 12:00 midnight. To add to the fury, high intensity fire crackers are also exploded till odd hours. This trend has become a benchmark of celebrations now and continues to be a perpetual nuisance at the community centre. Pitch of the music played is so high that the glass window panes of adjoining flats resonate with sound giving a feeling that they may break at any moment.
This is causing immense disturbance and torture to the residents of nearby societies. Children are the most sufferers due to this menace. They are not able to concentrate on their studies and feel largely overstressed especially during their exam days. Senior citizens and those having health related issues also face a harrowing experience under such a noisy environment. They spend sleepless nights that take a toll on their health. The working class residents living around are no less a victim of this nuisance who carry the hangover of late night disturbance till next day which makes their schedules haywire.
It is understood that detailed guidelines of the honourable court on ‘Prohibition of playing loud music publically’ beyond 10.00 PM already exist but nobody is bothered to follow the same. Even the police are not coming forward to ensure compliance of these guidelines and remain a silent spectator. No doubt, everyone has the right to enjoy the celebrations but not at the cost of causing inconvenience to others that too by flouting all the rules.
This issue has been highlighted earlier also as it has a direct impact on the health and career of the sector residents. But it has fallen on deaf ears. Need of the hour is to take immediate measures by the concerned authorities to curb the unlawful practice of playing loud music till late night. People should also realise their responsibilities and they should take care not to play loud music beyond the permissible limit and time.
