“Fun, masti and frolic marks the 1st meeting of Ladies Forum” – this was the heading of the article written by me in this magazine, a, decade back. Today, even after so many years our ladies forum is going strong with new members getting added every year.
This forum was formed by Sumita Chopra and started in the year 2012 under the able leadership of Vijay Ahluwalia. The main idea was to bring ladies of the sector under one roof and to inculcate social bonding among them. The ethos of the forum remains the same to-date. This forum provides the women of our sector the much needed break from their daily routine and monotony of life. Age is no bar to join but the willingness to be part of a bigger group with lots of old and new friends keeps the forum going, As I look back during my days of forum secretary, monthly circulars were sent to the members and reminder calls were made. Today though WhatsApp has taken over this process but the sentiments and eagerness for the next meeting remain the same. The hesitation and shyness of the early days has vanished in this decade long journey. Today, it is almost like one big family group where all the festivals like Holi, Diwali, Teej Utsav and many other events like sports day are celebrated with full vigour & enthusiasm. This forum has today become a melting pot. The icing of this pot is our 92 years; oops 29 years ‘very young at heart’ Maureen whose excitement and energy level is always exemplary.
The present day forum get-togethers are not just restricted indoors but time to time outdoor fun excursions are carried out. All the members enjoy various fun activities like singing, group dancing, playing dandiya, themed dressing-up, etc. Tambola and other games are played amidst excitement and lots of prizes are won regularly. . Such is the chitter chatter of our ladies that it can even put any noisy class to shame.. In between rounds of gossips and jokes yummy hot snacks and sumptuous lunch is enjoyed The club’s popularity today is growing by leaps & bounds. The present team comprising of. Nisha Jaitley, Deepa Vohra, Neerja Singhal, Jyoti Khanna and Sharda Puri works tirelessly to make each meeting worth its every penny.
I can go on and on but will sum up by saying that we are all different flowers giving fragrance to our individual homes but together we make a beautiful and vibrant garden called “Ladies Forum”
