Sr. Sadhna Bhatnagar is the daughter of Shri Bankey Bihari Bhatnagar (was the editor of popular Hindi weekly Saptahik Hindustan which had deep literary connections with renowned poets like Harivansh Rai Bachchan, Mahadevi Verma etc). Sadhna’s mother Shanti Bhatnagar was one of the few first female journalists of the independent India. She did MA in Hindi Literature. Translated seminal works like War and Peace, Rebecca and others. She used to write short stories and fiction books for children. She was sent to the Scandinavian countries as a journalist by the government.
Sadhna being brought up in the house of literature, theatre and poetry.. has taught Hindi literature for 29 years in Lakshmibai College, Delhi university. She was the reader of Hindi Literature. She has written numerous poems and stories that were broadcast on radio and published in magazines. She has written the scripts of some Hindi serials as well. She is the founder of the theatre group “yavanika” in which she has acted and directed many plays since the last 50 years.
Dr. Sadhna Bhatnagar has been resident of Gulmohar Park since the 1970s. She was also a part of the managing committee of RWA a few years ago. Her husband Sudhir Pareek is a retired media professional. He has produced various TV serials. Her daughter Manasi Pareek works in Mumbai in the Film Industry as an Associate Director. We are proud to have her as a fellow Gulmoharian.
