Know Thy Neighbour – Neeraj Gupta

It is rather unusual and commendable to be a Jack of all trades and also be a master of them all. Neeraj  Gupta, an S Block GK-2 resident, demonstrates this unique trait in his disposition that places him heads and shoulders above most others. His inquisitive nature and calculative mind have always prodded him to think outside the proverbial box to come out with work solutions that have clearly established his supremacy across a diverse spectrum of areas.

After completing his schooling from Delhi, Neeraj did his Civil Engineering with meritorious distinction from Aligarh Muslim University in 1983. His list of accomplishments does not however end with his academic qualification. This, in fact, was just his start point. He has subsequently added many feathers to his cap throughout his illustrious career spanning over three decades. During his stint at National Projects Construction Corporation, where he worked throughout his career, he played an instrumental role in bringing about radical changes in creating awareness about vigilance among the general public as well as the other stakeholders.

His innovative approach of spreading information through offbeat means like organizing Skits, Walks, Quizzes and special workshops earned him widespread laurels to the extent that he was rehired with NPCC as a Consultant post his retirement from the organization as Joint GM (Vigilance) in 2017. His subsequent association with the Art of Living provided him a ready platform to showcase his proficiency in other domains like Naturopathy, Vedic Maths, Art, Gardening and allied activities. Not just this, Neeraj also achieved the National Skill Qualification Framework Level 4 on Yoga. He also learnt the art of making Bio Enzymes from organic waste. These developments facilitated him to conduct several workshops on these vocations in economically backward areas and in posh localities alike.

His passion in the field of education led him to register himself as a Vidyanjali volunteer under the Ministry of Education. He attributes his fascination for Mathematics to his father who too was an avid mathematician and served as Deputy Director Statistics with the Railway Board under the Ministry of Railways. His mother, too, was a keen educationist. Neeraj has conducted several workshops in Mathematics in various Government run and Private schools besides conducting online sessions on Career Counselling at the Youth Leadership Training Program in Rudraprayag and Army Public School, Ahmednagar.

He fondly reminisces about the time when he was working on a civil construction project at Lalitpur. Since there was an acute dearth of good schools in that area, he encouraged his wife to start a school there. Neeraj presently teaches Mathematics in a school run by an NGO, Nav Abhiyan, which is active in the field of education. Neeraj is blessed with two daughters. While his elder daughter is an HR specialist who is married to an IT professional, his younger daughter is an architect. Neeraj describes himself as friendly and approachable while being a firm believer of simple living. We hope he continues to make a mark in many more accomplishments in his life.
