Summer has arrived, beckoning the season of coolers that not only beat the heat but also impress your guests. For health-conscious individuals, ready-made drinks are off the table. Instead, home made beverages evoke memories of moms and grandmothers crafting them with love.
Allow us to share with you the recipe for Aam Panna, a concoction that embodies the summer essence – Ingredients:
• 1 kg raw mangoes • 350 g sugar or jaggery • Black salt, to taste • 1 tsp cumin seeds (jeera) • Water • Fresh mint leaves, for garnish
Instructions:
1. Wash the mangoes thoroughly. Then pressure cook them for four whistles.
2. Allow them to cool. Then peel and extract the pulp.
3. Mix the sugar/ jaggery with the mango pulp and blend it in a mixer until smooth.
4. Add black salt and roasted cumin seed powder (bhuna jeera) to the mango mixture and cook until it comes to a boil.
5. Allow it to cool.
6. Stir in mint leaves and transfer the mixture to a jar or bottle. Store it in the refrigerator.
7. When serving, add two tablespoons of the prepared mixture to a glass and top it with water. Stir well, add ice cubes, and garnish with mint leaves.
Enjoy this refreshing drink on summer days!
