Swachh Abhiyaan at Panchshila Park
In September 2023, the Managing Committee (MC) approved a cleanliness drive for the colony.
The Colony Affairs Subcommittee, comprising Ms. Brinda Singh and Ms. Sharmila Sood, under the leadership of Mr. Pankaj Vats (chairing the subcommittee in the absence of Mr. Jasjit Singh), took on this responsibility.
The campaign started on 21st September 2023 with a bang, with the Society and the MCD collaborating to make it successful. All 3 blocks were covered and truckloads of leaves, branches and even the malba, thrown by residents for their personal repair and construction work, was picked up. The MCD was quite responsive. They provided the services of their sanitation staff, made their vehicles available for picking up the garbage, and sanctioned Rs. 25,000 to cover some of the additional expenses.
The Subcommittee did a brilliant job of ending the campaign on a high note by getting the MCD Deputy Commissioner, South Zone Dr. Ms. Angel Chauhan, to distribute food packets to 35 MCD sanitation workers during her visit to our colony on 18th October 2023. The packets were provided by Panchshila Club. Since this period also marked the end of the Shradhs, it was a well-timed gesture. Mr. Vinod Kumar, Asst. Sanitary Inspector, was given a certificate of appreciation for his initiative during the campaign. This recognition will go a long way in getting continued cooperation from the MCD.
As shared by Mr. Vats, there is a plan to have this campaign quarterly. That would be truly wonderful and would help our A-category colony to look its part.
