In the present day world, people are so busy in their own struggle to survive that they have no time for others even when some help is required on a humanitarian ground. However, the residents of Kailash Dham (KD) society extended timely help to an accident victim, physically as well as financially.
Pappu Chaudhary is a vegetable vendor in the Society complex; he has been serving the residents for over 5 years. On 18 February late evening he met with a serious accident, in Greater Noida West area, suffering head injury. Though he was wearing a helmet, but somehow it slipped out and did not help in protecting his head. He was taken to Yatharth Hospital, which was nearby. After first aid and dressing he was advised brain surgery. Being a private hospital the expenses were pretty high, unaffordable for Pappu’s family. So he was immediately taken to RML Hospital in Delhi which is a government hospital.
One resident of the KD society on being informed of the accident rushed to the RML Hospital. Another resident, himself a doctor, tried to find some good contact in RML and found out one from a doctor friend in UK. Accordingly, Pappu was operated for brain surgery in RML and was given good care. After a few days he was discharged and brought home.
A few days later some of the stitches opened, and he needed some medical intervention again. Since RML being government hospital takes a lot of time for any treatment, his family wanted to go to some private hospital. With the help of a KD resident, who works in Apollo Hospital, he was admitted in Apollo. Being a high-end hospital of Delhi, it is pretty expensive. However, thanks to the same resident, the expenses were brought down from Rs 6 lakhs to about Rs 2 lakhs. But even 2 lakhs were unaffordable for Pappu’s family. So the residents were approached to contribute towards this.
Within a couple of days the residents collected more than Rs 1,50,000. With this help all, the procedures went smoothly and Pappu came back home. One kind resident took Pappu and his mother back home in his own car.
With collective and timely help by the residents of Kailash Dham society, Pappu is now fine and has also started sitting in his shop. He will need some check up after a couple of months. But Apollo, thanks to the resident again, has promised to take care of it.
(The residents who were actively involved in extending physical as well as financial help wish to remain anonymous.)
