The pre-karwachauth celebration on 31st October, on the lawns of Panchshila Club was a blend of tradition and modernity setting the stage for the grand Karwachauth festival on 1st November. The active Panchshila Ladies Welfare Association in collaboration with the Club organizes the event meticulously. The highlight of the pre-karwachauth celebration is the Mehendiwalis. The PLWA organizes a large number of the henna artistes for the member ladies. The women queue up to get their hands adorned with mehendi, each design telling a unique story of tradition and personal expression. Stalls of vibrant bangles, bindis and Shringar are put up by the PLWA to enhance the joyous atmosphere. Lot of planning and hard work by the PLWA team goes behind organizing the two day event. The Club organizes the food stalls of Chaat in the lawns for the members. The husbands are seen enjoying the chaat while the ladies are getting mehendi put. The anticipation and the excitement leading to the auspicious day is evident on the ladies’ faces. This cultural immersion where modernity and tradition seamlessly co-exist is a sight to behold. The following day of Karwachauth, as dusk descends, the ladies don their traditional attire, the young dress up in lehengas carrying the decorated thali and beautiful karwas throng the multipurpose hall of the Club for the Puja. Since years, the PLWA has been organizing the event where they call a Panditayin to conduct the Puja. The ladies are welcomed with Shringar and arrangements are made for them to do the Karwa Puja while the Panditayin recites the traditional story. The women come together and revel in the joy of being a part of the tradition that transcends generations. The vibrant colours, traditional attire and festive decorations further contribute to the joyous atmosphere making the occasion a beautiful celebration of love, faith and togetherness.
