The Karwa Chauth festivities at IC were a sight to behold, steeped in community spirit. The two-day celebration allowed the women residents to come together in joy, marking the occasion in a grand way.
Mehendi: A Beautiful Start – The celebrations began a day before Karwa Chauth, with the women gathering to apply mehndi. Mehndi artists from nearby villages were invited to apply intricate henna designs, transforming hands into canvases of floral patterns, paisleys, and vines.
The mehndi session created a festive ambiance as the ladies shared stories.
The Day of Karwa Chauth: Rituals and Reverence – On Karwa Chauth, the ladies dressed in traditional attire, with each one resembling a newlywed bride. Dressed in sarees and lehengas, adorned with jewellery, and wearing the traditional red bindi, the women looked radiant as they gathered at the community playground for the ceremonial pooja.
The air was filled with devotion as they performed the ritual of exchanging thalis, a practice symbolizing unity. A pandit ji led the pooja, guiding the women through the rituals, imbuing the ceremony with a sense of spirituality.
Surrounded by neighbours, each woman’s pooja thali gleamed with offerings and Diya lights, creating a mesmerizing sight.
Capturing the Moment: A Joyous Photo Session – After the pooja, the ladies enjoyed a photo session, capturing the day’s beauty in memorable snapshots. Dressed in their finest, each woman posed, cherishing the opportunity to commemorate this special day with friends who felt like family.
The laughter of the session added a light-hearted touch, bringing out the warmth that makes ours a close-knit community.
Moonrise and the Moment of Prayer – As night fell, eyes turned to the sky, awaiting the moonrise. As the moon graced the night, the ladies made their way to the rooftop, where they gathered to complete the final ritual in their husbands’ presence.
Holding up their sieves, each woman looked upon the moon, praying for her spouse’s long life. The ritual concluded as they looked at their husbands through the sieve, a tender gesture that signifies love.
The Karwa Chauth celebration was more than a tradition—it was an experience that brought the women together, reaffirming the cherished relationships in their lives. With every mehndi design, every pooja thali, and every prayer under the moonlit sky, the Imperial Court women celebrated a day of togetherness.
