Karva chauth was celebrated with traditional fervour in Silver Oaks. While rituals like partaking of sargi were carried out early in the morning at home, arrangements were made by the management for the pooja in the evening. Young and old dressed up in bright clothes with bangles, mehendi and jewelry adorning them.
A small mandir was set up under a pandal for the pooja. Groups of married ladies congregated with their pooja thalis and sat in a circle for the thali batana ceremony. Karva chauth katha was relayed on the sound system.
In about three hours, all those who wanted to participate in the pooja, completed it. Some sat down to chat with their friends while others went home for a cup of tea. All the offerings of the pooja, including sweets and fruit were packed in paper bags and distributed to the workers in Silver Oaks.
The moon came up at 8.15 and a cheer went up, signalling to all that it was time to break the day long fast.
