You know its the time of the year, when the wives look the prettiest!! The jewellers too breathe a sigh of happiness and the husbands have no choice but to say Aye Aye Begum Sahiba and love thy their wives… Its Karva Chauth.
What is it with the malls- why do they have to pull out their best lot of dresses during this time of the year only! Does anyone support the other halves..well the bank does..they increase the limit of the credit cards, offer some lucrative offers and there goes the husband dearest, smilingly and happily doing it all for his better half.
The most loved relationship, filled with love, tiffs and utmost togetherness is celebrated on Karva Chauth. The wives are at their best with heart filled with purity and piousness, praying for the long life of their partner.
The word Karva Chauth is made up of two words, ‘Karva,’ which means an earthen pot with a spout and ‘Chauth’ which means fourth. The earthen pot is of great significance as it is used by the women to offer water to the moon as part of the festival rituals. It is said that this festival began when women started praying for the safe return of their husbands who went to fight wars in far off lands. It is also held that it is celebrated to mark the end of the harvest season. Whatever be the origins, the festival offers an occasion to strengthen familial ties.
Its not only the homes which are lit up with happiness, but the society as well. The grounds turn colorful, filled with giggles and style and selfies. In all the SMILE just increases. Princeton celebrated Karva Chauth with happiness in air. The smiles, the love and the togetherness can be seen from the captured moments.
May we wives continue to beam in beauty and may our husbands continue to live with healthy lives. Happy Karva Chauth!
