It was the Sat evening, 10 Feb, when Kahani Thela reached Vasant Kunj, loaded with stories and activities. Three storytellers, Sarika Salil, Ridhi Gupta and Kahaniwachak Swati, packed their bags of stories and reached Udaan Arth Shiksha Kendra. They were greeted by 80+ children, eagerly waiting for the magic to begin. The stories unfolded one after the other and so did the enthusiasm of the children. They participated with zeal and excitement in all the activities.
Two hours flew by in a jiffy and the storytellers had to leave with a promise to the children to come back soon.
Delhi Storytellers ‘Tribe’ is a collective of people from Delhi NCR coming together to connect, collaborate and create opportunities to celebrate the art of oral storytelling. It came into existence three years ago with the aim to help stories reach every nook and corner of our city and beyond.
Kahaani Thela is their flagship program. It is the festival on wheels where storytellers take the storytelling festivities to such places where it doesn’t reach often.
Kahaani thela is a 1.5-2-hour event where three storytellers at each centre engage, entertain, and energise children with their stories. It is a free event where storytellers join the community voluntarily. They come forward for the sheer love of spreading story’s magic dust on as many children as possible.
If you want the kahaani thela to reach out to your NGO, not for profit, or free
community library, do write to delhistorytellerstribe@gmail.com
