The joyful excitement among many DLF Phase 2 residents over the past month has been driven by the victory of co-resident Jyotsna Vipin Yadav from J5, who has been elected as the new Municipal Councillor. Jyotsna secured a landslide victory in Ward 2, which includes DLF Phase 2, Sarhol, Dundahera, Surya Vihar, Udyog Vihar, and Cyber City.
As a resident of DLF Phase 2, she is deeply empathetic to the concerns of the community and understands the potential impact her position in the Municipal Corporation can have on addressing these issues.
Strongly supported by her husband, Vipin Yadav, their dedicated staff, and a team of volunteers, Jyotsna has actively worked on various social initiatives over the years. Even during the ‘two-year’ waiting period of MCG elections, she continued to push for solutions to pressing local issues.
While her responsibilities extend across diverse areas, including the urban villages of Sarhol and Dundahera and the industrial-corporate hubs of Udyog Vihar and Cyber City, she is ready to take on the challenges ahead. With DLF Phase 2 as her home ground, she is particularly committed to addressing its concerns.
On March 25th, Jyotsna, along with all other elected councillors, the Mayor, and all local representatives from Haryana, took the oath of office in Panchkula. In the coming days, she will begin transitioning into her role, receiving a handover from her predecessors and the MCG teams.
I had the exclusive opportunity to speak with her about her vision for DLF Phase 2, and she shared her insights frankly and candidly about what lies ahead.
Jyotsna Yadav: “The biggest challenge right at our doorstep, with summer approaching, is water scarcity in the DLF Phase 2 area. In fact, it has already begun. We have been facing this issue for the last few years. Last year, after significant efforts, we secured approval from Local Bodies Minister Kamal Gupta ji for a tubewell booster in J Block, which has now been operationalized. This should hopefully provide some respite this year.
We have also been working to get additional tubewells approved for DLF Phase 2, and with this new role in MCG, we aim to expedite the process. Additionally, in the coming years, a new direct water supply line from the Basai canal, which will reach DLF Phase 2 via Palam Vihar, is expected to significantly resolve water shortages.
We also plan to develop more rainwater harvesting pits in key low-lying areas such as Gulmohar Marg, M Block, and N Block, where water accumulation is highest. We will prioritize these measures in the MCG House before the monsoon season this year. However, despite our best efforts and intentions, I personally believe that we may not be able to fully resolve this challenge in the current summer.
Another major concern is the unregulated traffic movement through the colony. We will seek approval for boom barriers at all six gates and work towards securing the necessary funds for their installation. Additionally, to enhance security, we will work on closing all open access points along the colony’s periphery. This will significantly reduce thefts and improve overall safety.
One of our key mandates is to make DLF Phase 2 cleaner and more aesthetically appealing. Our first focus will be on Gate 1, the primary entry from Dakshin Marg. We will ensure this stretch is cleared of encroachments, well-lit, and secured. Additionally, we will work towards removing unauthorized hoardings and advertisement boards at all colony crossings to maintain a clean and organized look.
We will also collaborate with waste collection contractors to establish a standardized waste collection procedure, uniform pricing structure, and effective waste segregation. To promote sustainable waste management, we will involve residents and lane volunteers in educating the community about proper waste segregation practices. Looking ahead, we will explore the possibility of localized or outsourced bio-waste composting solutions.
Our success depends on the collective efforts of residents and volunteers across DLF Phase 2. We seek the support and participation of community members who are willing to work alongside us in these improvement initiatives.
At this moment, we are just at the starting point, and as official channels get fully established in the coming weeks, we are eager and committed to serving the residents to the best of our abilities.”
