Yukti is enthusiastic, vibrant, helpful, ever smiling woman and the woman of the new generationQ: Hello Yukti. Can you please tell me briefly about your personal and professional life?A: I am Yukti Gupta, resident of B block, Panchsheel Enclave, an Advocate. I have worked previously with companies like Thomson Reuters, Noida and Mindcrest, Pune. My core practice revolves around people management, data management and technology adoption.
Q: Yukti, I remember long time back you spoke about the “My gate app “ in a What-sapp group and many RWAs are now in the process of adopting it .Can you explain why and how this app would be beneficial for our colony?
A:MyGateApp has been chosen by the RWA. We, the residents of the colony, need a one stop solution which helps you connect to all resources without being dependant on anyone. A repository or directory which answers questions like who lives where, which can be seen in the ‘Residents’ section, and names of domestic helps (like maids, carpenter, cooks etc), which can be seen in ‘Communities’ section.
Q: Tell us how does the App work?
A: We simply have to Download the app “MyGate” from Google Play Store or iOS App Store > Register your Account > select the Colony and your House Number. The admin of the colony can then approve your request and you will be a part of the application.
Q: How can you say that it’s going to make our colony more secure? Have you used it in the past?A: Security is a two-way process. First level check is at approval stage. PERA checks the records based on what house number you have selected on the app while registering. It has been entrusted to one of the residents of the colony who is quite diligent in approving it immediately after verification. From the viewpoint of securing the gates or entry points. You add a list of people who come to your place daily, in the app. This is done by mapping your domestic help and pets in the app, if any. You can also register your cars on the app. Everyone gets an ID in the app automatically when you add people and things to your profile. On clicking your initials, you will be able to see all the details. You may remove the staff detailswhen they stop working with you. Guards check the authorised details in their section of the app and give entry accordingly. Now coming to theother side of the security – Guarding the periphery/boundaries and educating the guards. The colony has few geo-tagged areas covering the whole colony and guards must scan these using the App when they are conducting their rounds, to reflect the time stamp when guards were doing rounds of the colony.Additional guards have been deployed near Ram mandir and other areas. The adoption of system is currently for B,C and D blocks,PanchsheelEnclave. It is a one-time process of mapping things and people to houses as this helps in verification. For e.g., any unauthorised movement of vehicle or things from a resident’s house can be traced by guards by asking house no. And if not mapped under that house no, or if there is a mismatch, they can send an alert. You should insist your staff to provide details to guards when entering or exiting the colony diligently. The maid may not have a smart phone, but an ID is created for them when you register them on the app against your house. They just need to know that ID for in and out purpose. One time registration using their Aadhar also adds another verification layer to securing the place we live in.The system knows whether any car was outside that day or whether any other person other than the resident is in the colony. Of course, privacy is taken care of, as entry passes are regulated only by the house owner on their profile. Also, a cool feature of intercomm can be used without revealing the numbers and you can still connect. Q: How do I knowthat this App has helped people ?
A: I have helped in the usage and implementation of this App in my previous place of residence in Pune. We just have to be the eyes and ears of our own house. If we manage just that we can help the colony – it is that easy.
Q: Do people have to pay anything for this separately as they are already giving PERA subscription? A: Nothing at all. It is Muft! Muft! Muft! If you pay the PERA subscription, then just setup of the App on your phone.
Q: How can we provide more help to the residents?A: We can do door-to-door service for installing theApp and pop-up stall at Holiday club or in different parks in the colony.Q: Can you summarize the benefits of installing this app?
A: Regarding benefits
1. You can connect with fellow residents through intercom
2. You can check the staff’s presence in the colony, as the App indicates based on in and out
3. If someone is entering based on a house no. the gate security can check via the App and approval can be given on the App itself. You can accept or deny entry from the comfort of your phone.
4. Suspicious movement of household stuff or cars can be traced. App has feature of issuing gate-pass to staff if you are giving them any items to take out of the colony, and the security can verify the same.
5. It helps in building of trust and awareness
6. It has noticeboard and discussion. They can be utilised for colony-wide information dissemination and also awareness at our end.
At the end, I will say trust the process and let’s help each to make this colony a more secured place. There are hiccups in the initial stages but benefits go a long way.
Jyotika- Thanks Yukti for explaining the residents about ‘My gate ‘app as most of the us in the colony especially thesenior citizens will surely benefitfrom it.
