Jhansi Ki Rani Of Green Park – Vandna Luthra

My quest for Jhansi ki Rani in my vicinity was rewarded very well when the search ended with my meeting a petite girl while taking a walk in the park behind Aurobindo market. She is Vandana Luthra, my neighbour in Green Park ‘A’ block. We had met earlier also in a Diwali party at the residence of Kapila’s in Green Park.

This young lady Vandana is the mother of three grown up kids (two married daughters and one son of 14 years of age). Her cheerful disposition and warm behaviour brought us closer to each other. She gave me a nickname. I feel shy even sharing it with you because it is just a joke and has no similarity with me. However I have accepted it gracefully and I do respond when she addresses me as ‘Hi beautiful!’

Vandana is an Indian by birth but brought up in Bangkok where her parents had settled down. Vandana studied in a boarding school which made her independent and strong. Vandana’s father wanted to see his daughter self-reliant and enriched with values in life. Her dad made her work in his factory where she was treated as staff to teach her the working norms. She started her life as a factory staff with a salary of 5000 per month. She was left with 700 Rs after taking care of the daily needs. Vandana was very disappointed in accepting this hard reality of life. This was another lesson of life to understand the value of money.

She got married early in life at the age of 19 and theus could not go for higher studies. Her Parents- in-law were loving and balanced. Vandana was welcomed to the house as a daughter and not daughter in law and unfortunately her father in law died early and senior Mrs Luthra died of Cancer. Her suffering and death left a dent in the son’s mind and he became an aloof personality.

Vandana with two daughters and one small son had nothing to fall back upon. This turned a new leaf in her life and she realized that there was not much scope for her in professional circles with the limited qualifications. Yet something had to be done for the upkeep of the children and that also by keeping self respect alive.

She took a big leap into the share market without any knowledge of this trade and limited resources. Her strong will power and courage were the only tools in the market. She started studying the subject and investing small amounts. Luck and deep understanding with bold decisions came to her rescue. Initial investments returned profit with which her confidence level rose. Slowly she built her portfolio, solid with SIP, which is a systematic investment plan. Vandana faced a lot of criticism when she ventured into the field of stock market but with her success the criticism died down its natural death.

She married both her daughters with the own money. Not only from Luthra family but also from her parental side she did not accept anything except a small shagun towards chura ceremony.

Vandana gave her children a good life. She and her family have travelled all over the world with decent and enjoyable holidays. Both the daughters have mother’s genes. The elder one has learnt the stock market secrets from her mother and the younger one is busy working with her husband in their factory.

14 year old son sits with the mother in spare time to learn more about stock Market. He started investing all his money and gifts in the stock market and today he has a portfolio of 6 digits to his name at the age of 14 years. Vandana loves life and wants to enjoy it to the maximum.

Her dream is to educate underprivileged and get them good jobs. She is working towards it and most important is to make a good small hospital around Green Park as we face a lot of difficulty during emergencies. Let us hope and pray that all dreams of Vandana come true for the satisfaction and benefit of Green Park. Is Vandana not an exemplary woman in her own way? Is she not Jhansi ki Rani of Green Park and a role model for hundreds and thousands of us.
