“Jewelry is eternal”
– Kate Moss, Supermodel / icon.
Most women who have admired and accumulated unique jewelry pieces span-
ning decades , depicting the varied shades of the lives they lived will resonate with the above statement. In India especially jewelry, be it fine, semi precious or costume has been a very powerful accessory or armour for women since ancient times. Every piece of jewelry depicts the individuality, identity and aesthetics of its connoisseur.
In particular talking of Costume jewelry, what does the term stand for? As per verified data, the term dates back to the 20th century. Costume jewelry includes a range of decorative items worn for personal adornment that are manufactured as less expensive ornamentation to complement a particular fashionable outfit or garment as opposed to “real” jewelry, which is more costly and which may be regarded primarily as collectibles, keepsakes, or investments. Also known as fashion jewelry or imitation jewellery at times ,it paralleled the styles of its more precious fine counterparts.
While some women swear by their 22 carat gold , VVS quality diamonds, or Columbian emeralds and so on…there are others who love to stand out with statement jewelry that speaks of art, culture or a unique craft owing to its place of origin, and workmanship involved. While many don’t experiment with their jewelry by keeping things classic while there are others who like to introduce themselves as non conformists with their abstract , artisanal, bold or statement pieces, most of which speak of their varied life experiences or innate aesthetics acquired over a period and a keen eye to detail.
Jewelry indeed is a love language, and one can use it to enhance their mundane outfits or underline a strong look. Even those who claim they are not into jewelry per se or accessorization, find solace in minimalistic dainty jewels that speak to their resonance with subltety.
Indeed a women is incomplete without her treasure chest of wearable collectibles be it precious or costume, it’s equally priceless!
