The hot humid weather of early September did not deter the Grand Omaxe residents to participate enthusiastically in the celebration of Janmastami organized by the managing committee of the society. Activities around the celebration were planned keeping in mind all age groups.
For the energetic youth there was ‘Matki phoro’ competition for Gopalas and Gopies. The art of breaking the matki is not a simple one; it needs skill and coordination along with excellent team work. Preparation and strategies have great significance for participating in this competition. Residents who witnessed the competition were equally involved, with energies running high. Their cheering boosted the morale of those balancing in the pyramid.
Later the action of celebration moved to the cultural programme organized with songs and dance performances. Children performed on Janmastami theme songs and dressed as Radha and Krishnas. It was impressive to see little feet dance so well to the musical notes. Parents loved watching their children perform. Each item received loud cheer and clapping.
The grand finale performance was impressive – dance performed by Shikha Khare (disciple of Padma award winner, Shri Birju Maharaj ji) and her shishyas. The team with their dance dedicated to Lord Krishna transformed the stage into an apt setting of Gokul dham.
The entire programme of Janmashtami went on very well and the organizers were satisfied and thanked the residents for their participation and involvement.
Dusshera and Diwali celebrations are the next much looked-forward events of Grand Omaxe.
