Every year, Janmashtami makes Retreat feel extra special, and this year was no different. We had all sorts of fun things to do. The activities kickstarted with the singing of a couple of Bhajans in the praise of Krishna. This was followed up with dance performances by kids and adults, alike.
Everyone who participated in the stage activities ensured that the activities were top-notch by sparing time from their busy schedules to practise for the event. Such was the enthusiasm for participation that some kids practised even when their unit tests were round the corner. Nearly all the smaller kids present were dressed up in outfits of Radha, Krishna, Yashoda, Vasudev etc. and were looking very cute. The big moment was the Dahi-Handi game. Everyone was so excited, cheering and clapping together. After all the fun, we shared Prasad, a sweet treat that made the day complete.
What I love most about this festival is how it brings everyone together. This and similar festivities make living in Retreat even better than it already is. I hope Lord Krishna keeps making our community a great place to live.
