A divine birthday- Janmashtami! was celebrated on the 7th September 2023 in Silver Oaks with fervour and gaiety. Preparations had begun earlier with collecting of funds from voluntary donors as is done every year. A resident offered to make the traditional prasad of dhania panjiri and panchamrit. Ever since Covid struck, a temporary mandir has been made outside on the lawns in front of the Community Centre. This year too it was set up and decorated with flowers.
In the evening Krishna bhajans were played, creating a serene atmosphere. A large number of devotees gathered for the arti at 7 pm.
After the arti was performed, prasad and panchamrit were distributed. All the residents queued up in a disciplined manner to offer prayers.
What’s a birthday without some music and dance! Our little ones had been waiting for a long time to dance in front of the mandir to devotional music. Boys dressed as little Kanahiyas and girls as Gopis added colour to the festival.
It was a great beginning of the festive season.
