Krishna Jayanthi was celebrated on 7th September 2023 at Central Park !! Surprisingly a temporary mandir found its place just in front of towers 1 A and 1B in a short time where the laughter club members used to chant hanuman chalisa on all evenings on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
Mr Mehta, the organiser proudly said “A flash of thought to celebrate Lord’s Janmashtami occurred and the rest happened with a tremendous team spirit within a couple of hours. That is the magic of the Creator!!”
The majestic and pleasing Krishna of the Mehtas (home) found blessing hundreds of Princetonites at the park and the whole atmosphere turned Divine.
Krishna…master of masters and an epitome of consciousness was beautifully seated in the colourful Dias with His divine flute on His cheerful lips. A small idol of our creator was swinging merrily in a jhoola to please His devotees. The adjacent rim of bushes and creepers were well-lit with colourful bulbs.
The place quickly gathered momentum and the seats were arranged for ladies too. Melodious bhajans and “Dhun” were sung, in which others followed the lead singers. Everyone around participated in the devotional songs..by tapping their feet and clapping their hands.
Aarti was conducted around 7 pm and the occasion concluded with the distribution of Prasad for everyone.
Krishna Chati Puja was also celebrated at the Mehtas on the sixth day after Krishna Janmashtami. It is believed that the creator remains in His eternal Jhoola ( swing ) for 6 days and occupies His usual singhasan (kingly throne) on Chati day.
Chati is a great occasion at the birthplace of Lord Krishna-and to recreate the scene at Princeton, the Mehtas ( P1B 17) and Singlas (P 2 A 94) were kind enough to entertain the devotees. Ladies and gentlemen were fed the Prasad of Kadhi and Chaval which was prepared meticulously by Mrs Mehta and Mrs Singla at their respective homes to feed about 30 to 35 devotees on the sixth day in the afternoon at the stilt parking area behind 1B.
Laughter club members and Mehtas deserve special appreciation for making the celebration a grand success.
