Janamashtmi was celebrated in Ridgewood on the evening of 26th August. The celebration was organised by a group of ladies, led by Kittu Mathur, who are always at the forefront to take the lead in planning and organising social and religious functions with dedication. Ila Chaturvedi made the pooja preparations and requested the Panditji to perform the pooja. Kavita Handa, Mishi Gupta, Anuradha Khullar, Manju Shrivastav, Vandita Gupta, and Kunal Majumdar, to name a few, organized the whole event in less than 24 hours. The residents donated generously. All the decorations were done by these ladies in-house with their sarees, decorations, and chunnies. The Panditji conducted the rituals and pooja as per norms and vidhi vidhan.
Children and ladies attended dressed in traditional attire adding colour and glamour to the occasion. It was a most enjoyable Janamashtmi for residents with partaking of Prasad.
The ladies sang the bhajans joined by many Ridgewood children. The children made beautiful jhankies too.
Such celebrations bring together residents of all ages and inculcate a sense of togetherness and satisfaction as one big family.
