Visitors to Jaipuria Plaza would have noticed that the facade is getting a facelift for a month or two. (Samvada shared this news in the last month’s edition.)
The shopkeepers have received a letter from their association asking for a contribution of Rs. 15,000 for repairs and renovation. It seems that the tiles on the exterior of the building have started falling off. A shopkeeper attributed this to the heavyweights being thrown down by gym users in the fitness centre.
A huge LED, too, was added to the top of the building many months ago to display advertisements, which must be a good source of revenue for the association.
Jaipuria Plaza is said to be nearly 25 years old and was built in 1997–1999 after the removal of Jhuggis. The first shop opened in 2000.
One hopes that the association will renovate the open quadrangles and toilets and pay attention to waste disposal too.
