The senior citizens of Parsvnath Prestige have got a new verve in their daily routine and the International Yoga Day was special this time. Their socialising time in the park of the society, indoors on hot days, is now chanelised into health benefit with the initiative of one of their young residents – Sweta Patel (D-507, Parsvnath Prestige). She is an accomplished Yoga teacher with over 11 years of experience. She has started conducting free yoga classes – primarily focusing on pranayama and meditation – for elder women in the society, which she says “…has been an immensely gratifying experience.” She has named this session as “9 gj ‘kke cqtqxksaZ ds uke”.
How did this idea germinate? “While I was preparing for Queenified Mrs India 2024 Pageant, I observed numerous elderly women around me suffering from pain and other ailments, and hence I decided to start a free community Yoga session for them in my society. Every day, as I guide these wonderful ladies through their yoga practices, I witness a profound transformation in their physical and mental well-being. The sight of their smiles, the sense of community, and the palpable serenity that fills the room during our sessions bring me an indescribable sense of satisfaction.
“Yoga, with its gentle yet powerful movements, is perfectly suited for elders, helping them improve mental strength. It is heartwarming to see participants, who initially struggled with certain problems, now enjoy Yoga with ease and confidence. More importantly, the classes offer a space for social interaction, fostering friendships and reducing feelings of isolation, which are common among the elderly.
“The feedback from the participants has been overwhelmingly positive. They often express how these sessions have boosted their energy levels, and enhanced their overall quality of life. Knowing that I am contributing to their happiness and health is incredibly fulfilling.
“This initiative has not only enriched their lives but also mine. It reinforces the importance of giving back to the community and highlights the timeless wisdom that yoga offers. I am deeply grateful for this opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our elder women in our society.”
Sweta Patel has post-graduate diploma in Yoga and is at Yoga Level 3, as certified by Ministry of Ayush. This energy-packed Yoga teacher is the favourite of the senior ladies; they are full of blessing for her to give a flip to their routine.
