Our body is a magnificent creation of nature but somehow, we have ignored this fact and built our own ways in this world where everyone is busy, with no time to spare even for this absolute life partner. Later we spend all the wealth accumulated to get back lost health via medicines, surgery and going to wellness resorts. Thankfully, people are starting to realise this and are taking to Naturopathy, Yoga and meditation to help connect with nature once again. It is a known fact that one who supports nature gets back a fruitful response from it.
In cities, health-related issues are more prevalent than in the villages. Rural dwellers are involved in activities such as sowing, harvesting, cattle rearing, etc which keeps them connected to nature. Now urban people understand that performing yoga brings huge benefits to their busy lifestyles. It helps enhance their quality of life. Since Yoga tunes the body’s rhythm with that of nature, we tend to rise and sleep closer to the sunrise and sunset respectively. Also, getting more rested and peaceful sleep which is vital for good health.
Seeing all these aspects & to bring more awareness into our lives, International Yoga Day is celebrated on 21st June each year. On this day, the whole world comes on yoga mats and performs asanas, meditation and mantras. People can be seen doing yoga in parks, community centres and even office spaces. Yoga is a way of life and just one dedicated day is not enough but a good way to start off on this path. It opens doors to experiencing joy, inner peace and tranquillity without any hidden charges!!
‘The Yog Vigyan Evam Manav Kalyan Trust’, is one such organisation that conducts free yoga classes in various colonies of Delhi. It has been celebrating this day for the last 10 years. Even our GK2 Tikona Park yoga class members, who attend their daily free classes in the park, attend it every year. One should take it one notch higher and practice yoga and meditation daily to lead a happier and healthier life and make our immunity stronger.
