International Yoga Day
Malibu Towne

International Yoga Day

Essentially a spiritual discipline based on a subtle science, Yoga focuses on bringing harmony between mind and body. It is a scientific art of healthy living.

The word ‘Yoga’ is derived from the Sanskrit root ‘Yuj’ meaning ‘to join’ or to ‘’yoke’ or ‘unite’.

This year International Yoga Day was celebrated on 21st June.

The Yoga Diwas was made even more spectacular when Malibuites turned out enthusiastically for Yoga practice in the early hours of Friday, 21st June. The sprawling Central Park had several participants stretching and strengthening under the watchful eye of Yoga Guru Satya Jyothi of Prakamya Yoga. It was heartening to see the group immersed in the various asanas and Pranayama. The group members in their black and white coordinated outfits looked quite striking.

After days of blistering heat, the International Yoga Day morning was a relatively cooler one with a balmy breeze and partially clouded skies. Almost all the green areas and parks of Malibu came alive with groups doing Yoga. One such group under the aegis of Infinity Power Yoga assembled in the BSNL park.

The pristine Vine Street Park hosted the Yoginis under the watchful eye of Yogacharya Sanveer.

Malibuites are known for their passion for outdoor activities and occasions like these give them even more reason to live their passion.
