International Dance Day is also known as World Dance Day. The day promotes art and culture and raises awareness among the public regarding the ‘art of dance’. It also spreads knowledge about several forms of dance and their value in art form.
On Saturday, 29 April, we, at Lotus Boulevard, celebrated Dance Day by performing different dance forms of the world: Latin America – Salsa; Africa And Europe – Jazz; Philadelphia – Disco; India – Giddha.
We performed these dances in the new dance room. All the dances were choreographed by artistic choreographer Fatima Khanam. She says, “Dance is an expression. One must understand the rhythm of one’s body.”
Fatima adds, “Dance brings personality changes such as becoming more confident & innovative. Visual enhancement is a benefit. Fitness and passion walk hand in hand.”
All the performers were Boulevard residents. Salsa & Disco were performed by Ruchika Likhy, Debrupa, Pooja, Charu Dogra, Jyotsna, Gaurav Sharma, & Depak Singh Kanyal. Jazz & Giddha were by Sarbani, Richa, Varshney, Priyanka Mehndiratta, Preeti Dhillon, & Shilpa Singhla.
