At a time when waste management is increasingly becoming a priority, the installation of composter bins in our society emerges as a viable solution to manage organic waste effectively.
We are glad that our pocket was chosen by the IPCA team (Indian pollution control association) along with MCD for introducing the Aerobins.
The bins were installed on 15 Mar under the project SORT 5 (Segregation of waste for recycling and Treatment).
Aashish Periwal- Assistant Commissioner MCD South Zone, Dr Radha Goyal- Deputy Director of IPCA, Ameena Talwar- Brand Ambassador MCD and our residents along with our RWA members attended the inauguration ceremony of the composting site.
The following events took place during the ceremony:
1. A street play was conducted on source segregation and waste management.
2. An awareness workshop on solid waste management was taken up by Dr Radha Goyal. The Vatavaran workers, malees and house helps were trained to follow the segregation process.
3. Ribbon cutting and inauguration was done by Aashish Periwal along with Ameena Talwar. After this, refreshments were served to all the attendees.
The installation of composter bins in our pocket represents a proactive step towards promoting sustainability. By embracing composting initiatives, communities can contribute to soil enrichment and reduction of carbon footprint. Let us join hands in harnessing the power of composting and to create a healthier and sustainable living environment for all.
