Remembering Rajiv Kumar Chaudhary
Exactly two years ago, Greater Kailash lost one of its most dedicated social workers, Rajiv Kumar Chaudhary, a resident of GK-1 Enclave, succumbing to cancer at a relatively early age. Besides several social involvements towards education, philanthropy, and medical care, his two most remarkable contributions to Greater Kailash are envisioning and executing the construction of a 400-seater world-class auditorium in a barren and rocky piece of land within the Arya Samaj Campus and the second in organizing the “Park Mein Yagya”, through which havan was organized in parks of S, B, C, R, E, and other blocks of Greater Kailash every year to manage pollution.
On December 15, an event was organized in the auditorium to remember Rajiv Ji and his contribution to society. Melodious bhajans were sung by Dr. Sukriti Mathur, a popular bhajan singer and a Delhi University professor, who incidentally was also Rajiv Ji’s music teacher when he decided to learn singing post retirement. The theme of her bhajans was “Sooraj Na Bun Paaye to Bun Ke Deepak Jalta Chal”.
In his lifetime, Rajiv Ji organized many seminars over 15 years under the auspices of many organizations, including RWAs, Arya Samajs, Sanatan Dharam Mandirs, NGOs, and Gurudwaras of South Delhi. The purpose of these seminars was to keep alive human values in society, based on the true teachings of The Vedas. The endeavour was to help provide a foundation for society to achieve peace, success, joy, and happiness and to connect as many people as possible with these teachings. He embodied compassion, positivity, calmness, selflessness, inner strength, and unconditional faith in God.
Bhajans were followed by a captivating discourse on ‘How to handle difficult situations in life’ by Dr. Vinay Vidyalankar, Principal, Govt. College, Uttarakhand. Based on learning in four Vedas, he narrated several incidents of how one can manage difficult situations and challenges that may seem impossible. The key message of his discourse was, “There is no problem in life that cannot be managed; have courage and patience”.
The event was attended by a packed auditorium representing friends, residents of GK from all communities, and all those who came in contact during social activities. The welcome address was by Richa Chaudhri Ahuja, his daughter, who highlighted the purpose of the event with a commitment to carry on Rajiv Ji’s legacy every year.
