The residents of Indraprastha Villa had a gala time at the New Year dinner party on December 30, 2023. The evening began with light Bollywood instrumental mu-sic, which was very pleasing to the ears and built momentum. As the scheduled starting time of the party inched closer, a naughty kid of the society hollered into the mike “party shuru ho gayi hai, aa jao na please”, crying melodramatically and pleading the residents to arrive soon. Hosted by Mrs. Bhatia, the event kick-started with mesmerizing dance performances by young girls followed by a high-voltage singing and mime session by spunky little boys. The confidence of the kids was applauded by one and all.
The residents enjoyed the performances as they relished the yummy starters and piping hot coffee, which was Godsend on the chilly winter night. They were also entertained by an impromptu solo jig on the dance floor by Lokesh Tripathi. There’s never a dull moment with this man around. He supercharges the atmosphere with his energy and quirkiness.
Tambola was up next, which not only kept most residents glued in, but also led to light-hearted back and forth banter and leg-pulling sessions between them. The bargaining skill of kids was on full display as they negotiated with adults like seasoned businesspersons to claim the validity of their ticket for a prize. Mr. Tripathi continued to add a generous dose of humor throughout the game with his laughter-inducing background commentary.
Dinner was a scrumptious spread comprising the typical party favorites. A few adults hopped onto the dance floor and danced with carefree abandon to the beats of fast-paced songs. The energetic kids were apparently in no mood to call it a night even after their meal, and enthusiastically participated in ‘musical chair’.
It was an evening well spent, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed letting their hair down.
