Every day, there is one decision to make – stay inside, play video or board games, or go outside to run and play. Honestly, I like both; I think the majority of the kids would agree with me.
I am not a big fan of video games but the game ‘Dress to Impress’ is an exception. It is my favourite game and also the only video game which I play. I am thrilled when I get the first place.
Sometimes, I also watch shows on TV that teach me new things or take me into the exciting world of mysterious stories. Recently, I have been watching a lot of gymnastic based shows, because gymnastics is something I love to watch; it is always fascinating to see what some people can do with their bodies.
It is nice to relax and enjoy these things but after some time, I get bored. My eyes get tired from looking at the screen for too long. That is when I start thinking about going outside.
The outdoor sports and activities are a completely different experience. Nature delights with its various gifts: the cool breeze to calm down and energise my mind, the lovely flowers, trees, birds and butterflies!
The moment I step out, and see kids skating, laughing, playing football, cricket, badminton, riding bicycles and what not, I am thoroughly fascinated. I love playing with my friends though I miss the time when we would form a group and then play different types of games together such as ice and water, chicklets, Kho-Kho and many more!
The advancement of technology has definitely helped in the growth of our country, but it has also taken away the childhood of many. It pains and disappoints me to see seven-year-olds with their eyes glued to their iPhones even when in the play area!
There was a time when kids played and played outdoor games for hours and did not even go home to drink water because they were scared that their mothers would keep them home and not let them go out again!
I believe that kids must play outdoor games as much as possible to grow up into healthy and fit young people. Indoor games are best when the weather is not too favourable.
The latter can never and must never replace the former type of games.
