I am elated that the Indian cricket team has won the T20 Cricket World Cup – 2024. I am proud of the National Cricket team and every team member who contributed to this win.
Matches in the T20 World Cup Tournament were held at various venues in the USA and West Indies. 20 teams from all over the world participated in the tournament. These teams were divided into four groups of five teams each.
India topped its group by winning all the group-level matches. Two top teams from each group got entry into the Super 8.
Indian team won all the matches in Super 8 and entered the semi-finals. India defeated the Australian team to enter the finals. I expected the Indian team to win the final. When the Indian team lifted the World Cup by defeating South Africa it was a very emotional moment for me.
All the players of the Indian team gave their best. The team played as a unit and won all the matches. The players did not lose focus despite the noise in the stadium.
Captain Rohit Sharma was very impressive both as a captain and a batsman. Jasprit Bumrah- pace bowler, was awarded the ‘Player of the Tournament’ for his extraordinary performance. I admire the way Surya Kumar Yadav batted in the tournament and his ‘smart catch of the match’ was the talk of the town. I was amazed by Virat Kohli’s batting in the final match. He executed all his shots beautifully and paved the way towards the win. Kohli’s batting style was also impressive.
I try to emulate Kohli while playing matches for my school cricket team. India’s win has lit a candle of motivation in me. Which soon will turn into a full-fledged flame.
