The local RWA organised a function (with many firsts) at the Community Centre grounds. The event saw a mix of cultural programmes, prize distribution and an oath-taking ceremony that saw residents reaffirming their commitments towards being a duty bound citizen of India. Residents comprised of civilians, decorated officers of the armed forces, professors, teachers, academicians, professionals etc.
The guest of honour for this year was Wing Commander (retired) Arun Kumar Pahwa, a resident of D-3 Vasant Kunj since 1988!
The event started with flag hoisting ceremony, followed by short speeches by Pahwa and P Tharyan, president RWA! Other speakers included Asha Singh and Bhrigu Patisingh, both renowned academicians.
The oath was rendered by Biraj Bose assisted by Devyani.
Children of all ages (encouraged by their enthusiastic parents), presented an array of interesting song and dance programmes. A one & half year old child stole the show!
The RWA also felicitated three police officials who have been tirelessly ensuring the safety of our colony and surrounding areas. ASI Surender, Head constable Kuldeep and Constable Dharmender in khaki looked determined and committed!
RWA’s sports coordinators (they are champions too), Pooja Khurana and Debashish Brahmachari, organised the prize distribution ceremony for winners of the recent sports championships! The prizes were given away by the Guest of Honour, RWA functionaries and past RWA Presidents!
The entire event was believed to have been successfully scripted & choreographed by RWA Gen Secy Rashmi Sharma, ably assisted by other team members of the RWA, administration staff, contractors and volunteers! Chitwan, an experienced school teacher, proved to be the compere beyond compare, of the show!
The weather gods were kind and the function ended with light freshments for all!
