Special arrangements in the United Park were made to mark the 78th Independence Day celebrations. Hoisting of the National Flag by MLA Sh. Somnath Bharti was followed by singing of the National Anthem by more than 150 residents present on the occasion. Smt. Sarita Phogat, Municipal Councilor was also present.
The cultural program included melodious songs by the young talented Yana Jerath, a dance mashup of patriotic songs by Kiara Mittal and Ravya Chaudhry. These numbers drew a lot of applause.
Master Lavish Arora and Master Sangam Gupta came dressed as Shaheed Bhagat Singh and recited slogans of the great patriot invoking patriotism. Young Shivansh Mittal conducted a GEO_QUIZ using his encyclopaedic memory of capitals of all countries so the audience would name a country and would instantly tell the capital.
Our favourite Mrs Beena Bhargava ji, an old-time resident ofour block sang a patriotic song and a Teej festival song. The most popular patriotic number, ‘Mere deshpremion’ was rendered by the Mohammed Rafi of B-5 block Mr Vinod Pandey.
The elegant ladies of the block Mrs Madhumita Saxena, Mrs Pavan Khullar, Mrs Prafulla Bangera and Mrs Leela Rao danced to ‘O Desh mere, Teri shaan ke adhke’. All ladies of the block joined the sprightly Kiara and Ravya as they rocked to more patriotic numbers.
The highlight of the event was the care shown by Mr Ashok Luthra, an NRI of our block. He had sent an honorarium to all guards and gardeners in memory of his parents, Smt. Sharda ji and Shri Prakash Rai Luthra. Remembering ones’ parents on such events was touching for all. Thank you, Mr Luthra for your care and concern!
A rousing game of Tambola was enjoyed by residents with lots of jokes and banter.
All the residents departed after thoroughly enjoying the National festival.
