Ridgewood celebrated India’s 76th Independence Day with much gusto and patriotic spirit, undeterred by the August heat. Hundreds gathered at the CD lawn to hoist the Indian flag, which now holds a permanent spot in the complex. Chief Guest Sankar Sen (retd IPS) did the honours, followed by the National Anthem. RECA president Naveen Zutshi addressed the gathering. On this occasion, Ridgewood felicitated the foot soldiers of the society, who are its lifeline – the security, maintenance and horticulture staff.
Children and adults alike joined in some fun activities like fancy dress where kids dressed up as various freedom fighters like Matangini Hazra, Chandrashekhar Azad, Rani Lakshmi Bai and more. Adults joined in and put up a splendid show of dance and patriotic songs. Wonderful performances by Lily Singh & her group.
All in all, the Ridgewood family once again displayed a strong sense of kinship and collectiveness by coming together in big numbers to celebrate the country’s great achievement of independence.
