August 15th started off on a very joyous note in B-5 block. All the executive committee members of United B-5 RWA prepared the park since 8 am, for flag hoisting and welcoming the residents.Soon the park was full of residents eager to celebrate the festival.
Our chief guest Shri Somnath Bharti Ji arrived promptly at 10 am as promised, followed by our counsellor Smt Sarita Phogaat ji. They greeted all the residents and proceeded to hoist the flag, followed by our National Anthem. Bhartiji addressed the residents and reminded them of all the sacrifices our Martyrs and Jawans made to achieve and maintain our independence.
Bharti ji soon departed since he had many commitments,but he took “Tiranga Sandwiches” prepared by the ladies of B-5 block,Mrs Bina Dua Mrs Sudha Aggarwal and Mrs Leela Rao.
Cultural program by kids of the block followed Bharti Ji’s departure.Kashvi Mahendroo ( age 11) did a Kathak dance, followed by Pushti Phogaat (age 10), who played Raag Bhopali on the flute.Third item was a song sung by Veronica (age 12 ),”Ae Watan “. A group song was then sung by the quartet of Kashvi and Amyra Mahendroo and Kiara and Shivansh Mittal.It was so inspiring to see these youngsters singing ” Hum honge kamyab” along with actions. Last item,indeed the show stopper was by our young beautiful Yana Jerath who sang “Teri Mitti Mae Mill Jawan “along with strumming on the Ukelele.She was given an encore ,so she sang “Ae watan”.
Shri Yogesh Mittal President of United B-5 RWA gave the vote of thanks and invited all the residents to a cup of tea and light refreshments.
All the residents ,more than 90 in number enjoyed the feeling of bonhomie and neighbourly feeling that this event created.
