The 77th Independence Day of our beloved Country was celebrated at Saket Dham Society’s central park on August 15, 2023 with great zeal and fervour. Like last year, “Har Ghar Tiranga” was the theme and Tirangas were hoisted by the residents in their balconies and also at the top of all the towers of the society from 13th August as a celebration of pride and love for the Nation. The society premises and the main gate were profusely decorated with tricolour flags and balloons to mark the occasion. It depicted not only a personal connection to the Tiranga but also an embodiment of commitment to nation building.
The residents gathered at the venue in good numbers to celebrate this special day. Patriotic songs were played to set the tone and create an environment of celebration. The celebrations started with hoisting of the National Flag at around 11.00 AM. The National Anthem “Jan Gan Man” played on the public address system echoed in the air while the Tricolour fluttered smartly showering flower petals, enhancing the thrill in the ambience. Indian martyrs and freedom fighters were remembered and paid homage to on this occasion. Sweets were distributed to the participating residents followed by tea and snacks.
A cultural programme was organised in the evening, due to hot and humid weather during the day time. The trees, pandal and the main gate of the society were given a festive look with tri-colour LED lighting arrangement. Residents of the society, especially the children gave high octane performances on patriotic poems, songs & dances which were well received and applauded by the audience. Prizes were distributed to all the participating children. The festivities concluded with a sumptuous dinner for one and all.
