Acuckoo sings her song while a parrot imitates others. No wonder a cuckoo stays free while the parrot constantly gets caged.
Considering this, the 78th Independence Day program was anchored fully in Hindi, our national language and Wellingtonites praised this initiative.
The flag was hoisted at 10 am by Mrs Shashi Mahendru, a super senior citizen and very respected lady. Sitting in her wheelchair, she hoisted the flag enthusiastically and repeated “Bharat Mata ki Jai” thrice. Soon after that, the National Anthem and march past took place. The program started with ‘Vande Mataram,’ a song by Mrs. Sarasvati Nath, who sang it in her melodious voice. Next was Dr Hardutta, who sang ‘Aao bachcho tumhe dikhaaen jhanki Hindustan ki’ in his powerful voice, Renu Sinha and Babli Kapoor sang ‘Sare Jahan se achcha Hindustan hamara’
Now, it was the time for the ever enthusiastic kids to perform, who were waiting impatiently.
Ajooni, Savi, Arshia, Adhrit, Swadheen, Sanskriti, Raadhya and Doi showcased their talent.
Some games were also organised for all age groups, which everyone enjoyed thoroughly while sipping their favourite beverage ‘coffee’
