With the onset of monsoon, the Imperial Court Ladies Club set a festive mood and celebrated Teej with grandeur on Thursday, 17 August at Club3. The members turned up in colourful attire and were welcomed by the Club President, Jyotsna.
The celebration began with a very graceful dance on the popular Bollywood song “Ghodey Pe Sawaar” by Sujata Kumar. This was followed by a skilful whistling performance by Sangeeta Prasad on the popular song ‘Sawaar Loon’.
The highlight of the evening was an exuberantly choreographed group dance. The dance medley perfectly encapsulated the essence of the Teej function. Several spot prizes were given and Teej Queens were selected based on finding a lucky slip under the chairs.
Tambola had a Teej twist. Instead of numbers, different Shringar – related terminology represented numbers from one to nine. These shringar pairs were called out; our ladies needed to break this code to decipher the number.
Mouthwatering chaat, pakoras, panipuri, aloo poori and gulab jamuns perfectly wrapped up the evening.
