Many residents in the Sector own a pet, mostly dogs. All these pet owners love their dogs often not only addressing them as their children but even treating them as one.
Many even use terms like ‘betu’ or ‘beta’ and refer to themselves as ‘mummy’ and ‘papa’. All this is understandable, but I would like to ask whether they consider their pet their own children? The majority would fiercely argue in favour and assert that they do. But take a moment to think.
Do you let your child go and defecate in public spaces or wherever the child wishes? No, we all train our children. Then why not the pets? When it comes to pets how many are willing to train or scoop their poop if in public space? Does it not happen with our children that we clear the mess they create when they are small? But when it comes to pet dogs, the owners choose to ignore and walk away even if the poop is left at the entrance of somebody’s house.
My point is that owners should not only profess love for their pets but also learn to take up the responsibility. It’s a common practice in foreign countries where owners carry bags and scoop the poop and dispose of it suitably. It was so good to see the practice taken up in a Sector in Ghaziabad. I feel that it should also be taken up in our Sector.
