Just coming once every 4 years, is this ICC Men’s World Cup? I have to wait so long to watch this, but trust me it is definitely worth the wait. Match after match this season was so interesting.
My favourite part about all this is that India went undefeated the whole season, except for the finals. Though India might not have won the World Cup, they were on top of the game in all areas. The Player to score most runs in the tournament, was awarded to Virat Kohli, Player taking the most wickets this season was Mohammed Shami and the list goes on and on and on. Mostly I watched matches of India, but almost each match was very interesting. First time I saw that there were so many matches where the teams were getting all out.
I am very proud of my country’s great performance in the World Cup and I strongly believe if our Indian Cricket team keeps striving hard, then the day of us winning the World Cup is not far away. It has been wisely said by someone and I quote “The 21st century is the Indian Century”.
The World Cup 2023 witnessed varied emotions from everyone around.
Some prepared Chappan Bhog, a special prasad consisting of 56 food items that are offered to Lord Krishna as Annakut after the Diwali festival. During this auspicious occasion we offered prayers for the success of the Indian cricket team by keeping aside blue jerseys along with 56 food items. Same Blue jersey we wore and witnessed live 2011 world cup league match at Nagpur stadium. Even though it is not part of tradition, but for immense excitement and desire for the country’s win in the final, such crazy prayers were conducted during chappan Bhog event. My friends & relatives joined the event and saw the match together for India’s win.
Sagar Bhola of A Block organized the screening of the World Cup at Harmony Park in A Block for residents of M, Q, B, P, J, K and C blocks also joined in. About 130-150 residents viewed the match together.
At its peak there were about one hundred and thirty excited Viewers.Food stalls were aplenty and high spirits were in abundance, literally and figuratively! The General Secretary and Treasurer of SCRWA were also in attendance.
It was a well- organized event with entry restricted to South City 1 Residents. The best part was that Sagar ensured thorough cleaning of the park after the cricket fever abated.
The children of Retreat. While few could pen down their emotions, the younger lot started off all excited and were found crying profusely when they saw their country lose in the finals.
Yes, we are heartbroken, but our team played like real Champions. We were unbeaten in the group stage and played really well in the semi-final. Out of 46 days we have been champion undefeated, for almost 45 days .Final day went in the favour for Aah-stralia…..
