Suncity Township is spread over 144 acres and is known for its greenery and beautifully designed and maintained parks. Most of the residents were and have been attracted towards the township due to this very reason. There are 17 parks and 2 central verges (main road and La lagune road) that cover at least 1.5 km.
Come, I will take you to the year 2019, when the situation started getting deteriorated due to issues between the builder and the residents. Plants started getting dried up and it was difficult to even spot the grass on the ground of the parks. So, all parks basically became playgrounds except the few where nearby residents started taking care of the parks. This was the time when there was no RWA and no Builder. Builder had handed over the township to MCG.
With God’s Grace and RWA coming up finally in March 2020, things started getting better. Volunteers team to maintain parks were formed and with the support of the residents who were paying VAS, we got some of the greenery back in a year.
But the upgradation of parks was still a dream. SRWA took the initiative in 2020 and got the 4 parks upgraded in the year 2020 with the support of MCG. But we had another 12 parks remaining for the upgradation and that was a challenge. It took us one and a half years of regular follow-ups to convince the department for upgrading the remaining 12 parks as the expenditure amount was crossing 2 crores.
At last in 2021 end, the file movement got started. And with regular follow-ups and tracking of the file, we finally got the upgradation approved by MCG in 2022 end. The walking tracks were constructed in big parks, beautiful boundary walls were installed in parks, Open gym equipment and Swings were installed in all the parks, Canopies were fixed in parks for the people to sit and enjoy the greenery and around 8000 more plants were planted in the parks.
All the parks of Suncity are finally upgraded and it’s so nice to see all the happy faces coming to parks, senior citizens chatting and laughing and enjoying the greenery, residents using gym equipment, exercising and children playing on swings.
