Around June 25, two houses in A-block were burgled the same night. While A-123 was vacant, A-122 lost its belongings. There are limited details available on these burglaries. This incident has led to a lot of fear amongst the residents, who are asking for increased patrolling by guards. A RWCS senior member said that it is sad that residents refuse to pay RWCS membership charges, which is used to pay guards and other things. He said that the two burgled houses were not RWCS members. Additionally, none of the neighbouring residents who have CCTVs are willing to share footage, which hampers efforts to catch thieves. According to the RWCS member, this is pretty common, with residents being reluctant. The most common excuses are that the CCTV cameras are malfunctioning, not working, didn’t record, or are present only for show. We all know that Sector 26 has important establishments such as schools and hospitals and that entry to the sector is not restricted. If increased regular night patrolling is required, then greater participation by residents themselves is also needed.
