Do you know that tons of household waste is generated daily in every sector of our neat and clean city, Noida? We also know that unlike Delhi there is no heap and mountains of garbage in Noida at present. This is because the Noida Authority is doing waste management efficiently as of now. The capacity of and capability of handling the waste of the city may soon become insufficient if adequate measures to reduce the household and other waste are not implemented at the grassroot level.
We as the residents of the sector may or may not be aware of certain measures by which we can contain our daily household waste.
Now the question is: “Can we reduce household waste?” The answer is “YES of course!”
Our household waste/garbage basically falls into two categories i.e. kitchen waste and solid waste (recyclable).
1. The green (vegetables) waste can either be given to the person collecting food for Gaushala or converted into bio enzyme/garbage enzyme or fertilizer at home itself for use of potted plants. The enzyme can be used even for cleaning floors and supplements to plants.
2. While going out shopping, we must carry our own bags and refuse the packaging bags from shopkeepers/vendors, even if given free, and save money where it is on payment basis.
3. For vegetable shopping in the weekly market, take vegetables/fruits directly in the bag you carry and not in polythene. There will be some effort to segregate them at home, but the satisfaction of not having to throw polythene is much greater
3. Donate or give your old items/clothes to the person who may use them before it becomes unusable. This will save the usable items from being thrown in dustbins.
4. RWA can ensure that tree leaves are put in the pit made in almost every park in the sector after cleaning of the park and roadsides. (Presently all types of garbage in the sector is mixed while sweeping, and made as sector waste and collected by vendors for disposal which passes through the process of waste management).
5. Noida Authority can distribute green and blue dustbins to each household, free of cost or on payment basis, either through RWA or through the agency collecting door to door household garbage.
The residents should come out and share various other innovative measures to help save our environment and make this “clean and neat” city a beautiful one to live.
