The Summer this season has been relentless, unleashing blistering heat wave on the populace, almost seeking vengeance for all the excesses committed against nature. While mercury does tend to touch the 45 mark every summer, what has made matters worse this time around is the night temperature remaining in the 32-33 zone, as a result, there has been no relief even at night.
In order to pull through this extreme heat people have been devising their own cooling mechanisms. From black-out curtains to an additional layer of blinds or even glass films, anything to keep the blazing sun out. Residents have also been trying to figure out ways of improving the cooling; be it by adding a cooler, a humidifier, or even tedious calibration of the humble fan to find the sweet spot between air circulation and cooling; all stones have been turned to get some degree of respite.
The ones with complete power back-up could count their blessings, while others were being painfully taught a lesson in supply and demand by DHVBN. A few aggrieved residents even opted to check into hotel rooms or neighborhood guest houses, just so they could get a good night’s sleep.
The extreme weather conditions of course make us all realize our role in allowing this concrete jungle to come up and denuding the earth of its green cover, bringing this misery upon ourselves.
Monsoon clouds seem to be gathering up on the horizon. Do yourself and those you care for a favor- plant some trees this monsoon.
