Holi is a festival that is not only a celebration, but it is also a symbol of love, compassion, friendship and forgiveness.
It starts from HolikaDahan, where we burn our jealousy, hatred, anger, and negativity in the pious flame of fire. When our heart becomes pure, it is all set to fill with vibrant colours. When we put Gulal and spray colours on others, we spray our love and good wishes on them and enjoy real happiness and togetherness.
Keeping this beautiful thought in mind, Wellington ladies arranged a get-together named Holikotsav on 20th March. The dress code was pink, which symbolises inner happiness. More than 50 ladies, dressed in different hues of pink gathered at W 3 park at 11.30 AM.
Ladies were greeted with Kesar Chandan teeka on their forehead, and after taking their seats, the Holi special drink, Kanji, was served. The welcome programme started with the Holi song ‘Rang Barse’ with a different funny twist which all the ladies joined and danced. After that, one by one, all the ladies sang one line of Holi song.
It was announced beforehand that the ladies had a choice of coming to the celebration dressed as a funny character. Only Aarti and Sangeeta turned up like that and both of them won the prizes. The next programme was giving title to all the ladies, which they enjoyed the most. Then the lady’s favourite game, Tambola, took place. The ladies were pleased as they won prizes in cash and that too without paying any money for the tickets. Meantime, Bhalla papri chat was served by the caterer on their seats. Coupons were given to all for Paani puri, aloo tikki and kulchamatar. Mrs Renu Jain thanked all the ladies, and after that, they collected their eatables from the counter and enjoyed it.
