A beautiful Holika was put up in the Eco Park by cultural committee team of SBWS on the morning of 24th March. Fresh wooden logs (No scrap or house waste was used) were used for erecting the pyre.CC members did Rangoli all around & used marigold garlands & rose petals to decorate the Holika. It gave a very somber look. Scared thread “Moli” was tied all around & cow dung cakes were also used to give it a religious flavor.
Many ladies with family members & specially with kids started trooping in early morning to worship Holika. It is a belief that offering various things, & praying the pyre ensures the safety of kids from any accidents.
At the fixed time of 7p.m., as per “mahurat” fixed, lot of residents collected in the ECO park.
Soon, the SHO, who was the chief guest for the evening arrived with his team. The pyre was lit after conducting Puja by our Chief Pandit Ji. A loud roar & cheers filled up the ground. SHO wished well & extended his greeting to all thru a short speech. Many residents were seen roasting tender green gram branches in the holy fire.
Prasad packets consisting of “Guldana” & “namak paras” were served to almost 200 residents, who had assembled.
Everyone was invited by the MC members for the next day Holi Milan.
