F Block Welfare Society supports community bonding
Meghdutam Rangmanch organised a Holi Special Music and Dance in the Park on Saturday, 23 March at the Meghdutam Park Amphit-heatre. In order to promote social bonding between residents of F Block apartments, Dr. D Sharma, President of the F Block Apartments’ Welfare Society, lent support to this event by contributing Rs.10000 which went towards arrangements of traditional Holi snacks and thandai for the audience. This gesture was well appreciated by spectators who hailed mainly from F Block apartments.
Besides F Block Welfare Society, some members of the audience also contributed to Meghdutam Rangmanch to support its ongoing cultural events.
The much-anticipated evening saw a good gathering of residents ready to immerse in the Holi mood. The special performances included a band of solo singers, and two groups of singers who performed Holi ke Geet. There was a Kathak performance by a group of students of a dance academy – a Holi dance that evoked the रस, रंग and भाव of ठुमरी (thumri). The show concluded with a musical antakshari in which more than thirty members of the audience participated. The event was anchored by Divya Mehta, a singer from Mahagun Manor.
Meghdutam Rangmanch endeavours to bring art and culture to the community by encouraging talent from the community to perform for the community. In a span of a decade it has come across diverse talent in music, dance, art and literature. We have, living in our midst, proclaimed authors, artists, dancers, and musicians, who have readily agreed to perform or conduct workshops for both children and adults. The list is growing day by day.
One major benefit of participation in Rangmanch’s live programs, either as a performer or spectator, is that it helps to wean children and adults away from the internet and social media by engaging them in live, offline events.
Each event conducted by Meghdutam Rangmanch entails a cost, mainly in sound equipment and logistics. Individual members of the community, aficionados of music and art, and RWAs have donated to this cause.
