Is there any other festival that gets the kids more excited, than Holi? As soon as they are up, it feels like they turn into some sort of little soldiers for Holi – filling pichkaris, stocking up on water balloons (the more ammunition, the better), and trying to gather all colours of the rainbow. This year, the Silver Oaks Holi Celebration took place at C-Block Park. That official start time for the celebration was 10:30 AM, but the kids had already rewritten that schedule and were there (ahead of time) turning the park into a battlefield of colours and having fun in full swing. The park was decked up with colourful triangular bunting strung up at different places, sparkling and shimmering in the sunlight, and chairs covered in crisp white covers. In an exciting first for the community, the C-block park at Silver Oaks witnessed the debut of the first-ever rain dance event. The setup was ingeniously assembled 100% in-house by the plumbers and electricians of the society. Underneath the refreshing downpour and vibrant splash of colours, the residents took the opportunity to let loose and dance under the cold needles of the shower. Even though the showers came in short intervals (to be mindful of water conservation), the residents showed no signs of slowing down, and continued with their enthusiastic chants of “Once more! Once more!” for an encore. The groovy Holi special Bollywood numbers and the booming beats of the dhol were like a call to action for every foot in the park to move to the rhythm of music. With dry colors flying in the air, pichkaris and water balloons ready to fire, everyone really enjoyed themselves dancing and laughing together.
Amidst the lively ambiance, there was another noteworthy element – the organisers curated a menu that was entirely Organic through Vishnu Farms – refreshing ganne ka ras, thandai, kadak chai with crispy pakode, french fries etc.—and also included main course featuring aloo poori and daal baati churma in desi ghee. Furthermore, they distributed freshly plucked guavas from their farm along with the meals. The celebration continued until late afternoon, with friends and family chasing each other with gulal and water colours. Even as the sun started to drop, it seemed like nobody wanted the fun to end. Guess one could say the Holi celebration was totally epic!
