Holi celebrations in Anand Niketan are well known affair in the entire area. The scale of the celebrations and the preparations that go into making it a success is to be seen to be believed. Anand Niketan has a number of parks and different parks have been designated different names according to the usage and purpose. For example there is a Dussehra park where dusshera celebrations take place, there is a Lohri park where Lohri celebrations take place, there is a Sai Sandhya park where all religious events take place. Similarly there is a holi park where Holi celebrations take place every year.
The holi park is quite big and as such just appropriate for a function like Holi where more than 300 people turn up to celebrate the festival. This year the paying guest in the colony as well as non residents were informed well in advance that the celebrations in the holi park were for residents of Anand Niketan only. The reason is not to exclude anyone but to prevent overcrowding so that the residents get to enjoy the festival and the celebrations without any hassles.
A number of foreigners staying in Anand Niketan also joined in the celebrations and experienced the different hues of Holi. Young and old alike danced to the peppy numbers and the singer too was very good. Ex-counselor Radheshyam and MLA Anil Sharma attended the event and introduced themselves. They further spoke a little about the upcoming general elections.
The holi celebrations were followed by a sumptuous spread of bedmi aloo-puri, chawal-rajma rounded off with sweet kulfi.
