His Journey in Astrology Happened by Chance

Astrology is a complex subject with various perspectives and interpretations, and pinpointing accurate timing of an event is challenging which needs commitment to continuous learning and updating knowledge base. Sunil Dixit, resident of B 204 Crescent Apartment, is an astrologer practicing for last 15 years. His work has been recognized by several astrology symposiums and federations. “It gives me a strong sense of satisfaction and motivation on being awarded for my capability and the effort I have invested in astrology,” he says.

His journey in astrology happened by chance, when in early school days, he found a pocket size Vedic Astrology series in a bookstore. Captivated enough, he bought one basic astrology books. Today, he is engaged in practicing and spreading knowledge about Vedic and KP Astrology, Financial Astrology for Stock Market and Commodities, Vastu and Astro-Vastu.

When asked to explain difference between Vedic astrology and Western Astrology, he explains Vedic astrology primarily uses the Sidereal zodiac and is based on Nirayana system, with Whole Sign House system, encompassing the principle of karma and utilizing different methods such as dashas and yogas. Nakshatras serve as one of the primary pillars and play essential roles, determining auspicious muhurtas, match making and prescribing remedial measures, etc. While Western astrology uses the tropical zodiac and is based on Sayana system, using Placidus house system, focusing on character analysis, angular aspects and transits.

Commenting on newspaper columns, he responds “English newspapers generally follow Western astrology, so predictions are based on Sun signs. Hindi newspapers follow Vedic astrology so people should use their Moon sign. Predictions are generalized to appeal to a large number of people.”

Though astrology lacks scientific evidence to validate its assertions, it is a divine science intended to assist us in deciphering our ‘prarabdh’ influenced by the planet’s impact on our lives and positions of stars at birth and during transits. Many astrologers accurately predict future by navigating through numerous intricate and occasionally conflicting combinations.

On talking about impact of astrology on our lives, he says “Astrology holds the promise of enriching our lives and improve success in various aspects, by providing valuable insights into our strengths and weaknesses, aiding us in making informed decisions regarding career paths, college majors and recognizing areas where we can excel. Additionally, astrology furnishes us with the tools to make timely decisions regarding the events that will unfold in the future.”

The greatest misconception about astrology is that it dictates an unchangeable fate for individuals. But the fact is that it works by the concepts of ‘Dridh’ and ‘Adhrid’ prarabdh, signifying that while certain aspects of life may be predetermined, others remain open to alteration through the choices and actions of individuals.

For Samvada readers, he advises, “To make your life better, always perform good Karmas i.e. rightful duties towards your profession, parents, sibling, spouse, underprivileged and animals. Such karmas pave the way for a brighter and more fulfilling future, bringing happiness and harmony in the times ahead.”
